Texas men’s tennis opens season with nine victories

The Texas men’s tennis team opened its season by sending players to tournaments in Houston and Midland Friday, posting nine victories in singles and doubles at the Rice Invitational and the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational.

UT’s John Mee and Harrison Scott advanced to the quarterfinals of the singles draw at the Racquet Club Collegiate.  Mee defeated TCU’s Reece Stadler 6-2, 6-3 and Scott beat Abilene Christian’s Nico Agritelley 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the second round after picking up wins in the opening round.

Texas’ Johnny Goodwin got a 6-1, 6-0 win over Jorge Estutia of New Mexico in the singles consolation round after falling to Texas Tech’s Connor Curry in the first round.


Texas senior Michael Riechmann, redshirt freshman William Joy and redshirt freshman Julian Zlobinsky picked up singles wins in the first round of the singles draw at the Rice Invitational. Zlobinsky and senior Nick Naumann added a doubles win.
