Texas women’s golf team in 7th place at Jim West Challenge

The Texas women’s golf team is in seventh place after shooting six over par in the opening round of the Jim West Challenge at Tapatio Springs golf course in Boerne on Sunday.
Texas is nine shots behind leaders Texas A&M and Kent State. The 11th ranked Aggies were led by Maddie Szeryk, who shot a six under par 66 to take the lead. Texas A&M won the Jim West team title last season.
Texas junior Haley Mills had four birdies and three bogeys to finish in a six-way tie for seventh place at one under par.
UT’s Julia Beck rolled in three birdies, but had four bogeys and finished at one over par. Texas’ Sophia Schubert shot a two over 74 and Maddie Luitwieler is at four over after shooting a 76.
