Texas women finish tied for fifth place at Jim West Challenge

The Texas women’s golf team finished tied for fifth place at the Jim West Challenge in Boerne on Monday.

Haley Mills led the Longhorns, shooting 69 to tie for fifth place, jumping 10 spots from the previous day. Sophia Schubert shot a 69 to tie for 11th.

Julia Beck finished 5 over to tie for 23rd, while Maddie Luitwieler tied for 30th, shooting 7 over. Tezira Abe rounded out the team with a total of 232 for 60th place.


Anne Hakula competed as an individual and finished tied for 68th at 22 over.

Kent State took the team win at 12 under par. Gabby Barker won medalist honors, shooting 5 under for Texas Tech.

Texas next turns its attention to hosting the Betsy Rawls Invitational at UT Golf Club beginning Monday, Oct. 19. The event will be televised on the Longhorn Network.
