The Texas men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams followed Friday’s victories over Indiana and Florida with another strong performance against the Gators and Hoosiers Saturday at UT’s Lee and Joe Jamail Swimming Center.
The three teams competed in a 50-meter, long-course pool on Friday and returned to the traditional 25-yard, short-course format on Saturday.
The Texas men’s team topped Indiana 154-108 and defeated Florida 162-100. The Texas women bested Indiana 141-115 and dealt Florida a 155-105 loss.
UT’s Madisyn Cox led the Texas women’s team with three victories and freshman Joanna Evans added two individual wins. Cox took the 200 freestyle, 200 breaststoke and 400 individual medley. Evans opened the meet with a victory in the 1,000 yard freestyle and held off Indiana’s Haley Lips to win the 500 freestyle.
Longhorns Townley Haas and Joseph Schooling won two events apiece as the Texas men recorded eight individual victories and two relay wins.
Haas won the 1,000 yard freestyle by over three seconds and took the 200 yard freestyle in 1 minute 50.35 seconds. Schooling, the reigning NCAA champion in the 200 yard butterfly, took the 200 butterfly in 1 minute 45.78 seconds and won 100 yard butterfly in 46.97 seconds.
