The second-ranked North Carolina women’s swimming and diving team edged sixth-ranked Texas 154-146 Friday in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The Tar Heels led 143-140 heading into the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, and won it by just under a second.
Texas’ Madisyn Cox had three individual victories as the Longhorns won seven events. Cox won the 200 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and 400 individual medley. Texas freshman Joanna Evans swept the long distance freestyle events, the 1,000- and 500-yard races.
