Texas’ Meghan Houston overcame an early deficit to win the 1-meter title on Friday at the UT Diving Invite at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
UT senior executed a back 1½ somersault on her final dive that scored 54 points, which was enough to edge California’s Phoebe Lamay 315.65-313.25.
Houston trailed by more than 10 points after the first two dives,
but managed to take the lead on her fifth dive, a reverse 1½ somersault. Houston has won three straight 1-meter titles at the event. Texas freshman Meghan O’Brien added a fifth-place finish with 301.85 points.
