The Texas softball team improved to 10-0 with a 6-3 win over Toledo and a 4-1 victory over Houston on Sunday at the Hilton Houston Plaza Invitational.
Texas was 5-0 at the event, hit .403, with 11 home runs and outscored opponents 48-8.
UT’s Celina Felix homered for the fourth straight game as Texas hit three homers to beat Toledo in the opener.
Texas’ Lindsey Stephen’s hit a two-run homer in the first and Stephanie Wong hit a RBI single in the second to put Texas up by three. Stephens was 2 for 3 with two runs scored. The Horns added to their lead in the fifth with back-to-back homers by Felix and Reagan Hathaway. Felix hit a two-run homer and Hathaway followed with a solo homer over the right field wall.
Texas starter Paige von Sprecken pitched a complete game with eight strikeouts and allowed three runs on six hits.
Tiarra Davis took the mound for the second game and held Houston to one run on five hits with seven strikeouts. Devin Tunning hit a bloop RBI single in the second inning, and Wong followed with a sacrifice fly that drove in Tunning and put Texas up by two.
Texas went up by four in the seventh when Christina Bardwell hit a sacrifice fly and Davis scored when Stephanie Ceo reached on an error.
Davis nearly had her second straight shutout, but Courtney Klingler led off the seventh with a solo homer to center.
