The Texas women’s golf team shot 9 over par in the opening round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans on Sunday and is in ninth place.
The Longhorns are ten strokes behind leaders Arizona State and Oklahoma State. Stanford’s Lauren Kim shot a 4-under par 68 and is in the lead. Five players are tied for second at 3 under par.
UT’s Haley Mills had three birdies and three bogeys to finish at even par and is tied for 14th place. Texas senior Tezira Abe rolled in three birdies but had a costly triple bogey on the par-4 ninth hole. Abe finished at 2 over par and is tied for 31st place. Longhorn Julia Beck is a shot behind Abe in a tie for 38th place after carding a 75. Texas’ Natalie Karcher shot a 76 and is tied for 51st place.
