One day after offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert said none of Texas’ three quarterbacks vying for the starting job was leading so far this spring, the Longhorns are saying Jerrod Heard is dealing with an injury.
Texas officials today said Heard, who started 10 games as a redshirt freshman last fall, sustained a shoulder injury during practice on Tuesday. He’s “being evaluated at this time.”
Heard’s injury did not come up during Gilbert’s media availability after practice Tuesday evening.
Heard is battling former starter Tyrone Swoopes and early-enrollee Shane Buechele for the starting spot.
