The winds of change are rustling over at the Big 12 Conference. When news broke Tuesday that Commissioner Bob Bowlsby had been authorized to begin the search to add more teams to the league, many people speculated which schools would be approached. We at Hook ‘Em have our guesses, but lots of others do, too— including the governor, who tweeted the following from his personal Twitter account Thursday morning:

Gov. Greg Abbott is clearly in favor of adding another Texas team to a roster that already includes Texas, TCU, Baylor and Texas Tech. Others aren’t so sure.

You've got Ted Cruz carrying a Texas flag and burning down Washington and you are focused on Big 12?
— Barry Green ❄️ (@BSG) July 21, 2016
I think the non-Texas schools might be tired of the state of Texas trying to boss them around.

so you only represent Houston? I thought you were also Gov of North Texas, UTEP, and UTSA? Why not them?

Some were in favor of it, though.
UH can replace Texas in the Big 12, and we can go to a real conference.

I agree actually. Just cannibalizes recruits and tv market. Not much value added. Plus who will be our coaching feeder system lol

@bevobeat That's the first time I've ever agreed with you.

What about you? Would five Texas teams in the Big 12 be too much? Sound off in the comments.
