Texas men’s tennis falls to Baylor on the road

The No. 17 Texas men’s tennis team failed to secure the doubles point and dropped three singles matches to fall to the Baylor Bears 4-2 in Waco on Tuesday.

George Goldhoff and Julian Zlobinsky defeated Felipe Rios and Jimmy Bendeck 6-2, but the Bears won the other two doubles matches to take the doubles point.

Michael Riechmann and John Mee were the only Longhorns to pick up singles victories on the day. Riechmann defeated Tommy Podvinski 7-6 (1), 6-3 following Mee’s 7-6 (4), 6-1 win over Tyler Stayer.


Felipe Rios put the Bears up 2-0 when he defeated Adrian Ortiz 6-3, 6-4. The victories by Riechmann and Mee tied the match at 2-2 before No. 14 Julian Lenz defeated Goldhoff in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 to put Baylor up 3-2.

Max Tchoutakian clinched the victory for Baylor when he defeated Harrison Scott 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.

Texas will next face No. 12 Oklahoma State on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Polo Tennis Club.
