The fifth-ranked Texas Longhorns volleyball team got back on the winning track Wednesday night, defeating TCU 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-13, 27-25) in Fort Worth.
The Longhorns (18-3, 10-1 Big 12) were led by Ebony Nwanebu, who had 19 kills while hitting .405. She only had two errors on 42 attempts.
Paulina Prieto Cerame and Micaya White each had 13 kills. White also had 12 digs for her fifth double-double of the season.
Morgan Johnson had a hitting percentage of .583 as she put away eight kills.
Chloe Collins had 48 assists while Cat McCoy and Claire Hahn each had double digit digs. McCoy finished with 16 as Hahn had 15.
Yaasmeen Bedart-Ghani led Texas with four blocks while Prieto Cerame chipped in three. It was the third time this season that Bedart-Ghani led the Longhorns in that category.
TCU took the first set after going up 8-4 and then using a 4-1 run to end the set.
Texas started the second set with a 5-1 lead and went on to lead by at least two points for the rest of the game.
Nwanebu had six kills in the third set as the Longhorns hit .484 to take a 25-13 win and go up 2 sets to 1.
It took extra points, but the Longhorns closed out the match in the fourth set.
Ashley Smith had 15 kills to lead TCU (10-11, 3-8 Big 12).
The Longhorns volleyball team is off this weekend and returns to Gregory Gym to host Baylor on Wednesday, Nov. 9th at 7 p.m. The match can be seen on the Longhorn Network.
