Texas tailback D’Onta Foreman was one of five Longhorns to earn spots on the Associated Press All Big 12 team.
But Foreman, who led the country in rushing and had 13 straight games of 100 yards or more, finished third in the balloting for the league’s offensive player of the year.
Oklahoma receiver Dede Westbrook earned the offensive honor. Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield finished second. Foreman, with four, was the only other conference player to receive votes. Both Westbrook and Mayfield were named Monday as finalists for the Heisman Trophy.
Offensive tackle Connor Williams and punter Michael Dickson also were first-team all-conference selections.
Defensive end Breckyn Hager and linebacker Malik Jefferson earned spots on the second team.
The conference awards were selected by a panel of journalists who cover the Big 12. American-Statesman columnist Kirk Bohls is on the panel.
Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops was voted coach of the year. Kansas State’s Jordan Willis was named the league’s best defensive player and Oklahoma State tailback Justice Hill was picked as the top newcomer.
