Big 12 media days takeaway: Texas can flex its O-line muscle again

Posted July 18th, 2017

FRISCO — A Big 12 media days takeaway from Tuesday:

Last year, Texas’ offensive line paved the way for a 2,000-yard rusher and a quarterback who nearly threw for 3,000 yards. Will the big boys be as good this fall?

All-American left tackle Connor Williams — who may have been the best player at the Ford Center on Tuesday, Oklahoma State punter Zach Sinor aside — is an asset. Texas might also have strength in numbers; the Longhorns’ primary starters on the right side of the line are gone, but seven returners have combined for 66 starts in their careers.

Said Williams: “We have a lot of depth and we have a lot of different combinations we can use. There are so many players that can (have) key roles and I hope we’ll use them all.”
