Addison advances at ITA Championships

Posted October 8th, 2015

Breaunna Addison defeated Vanderbilt’s Frances Altick in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 to advance to the second round of the ITA All-American Championships in Los Angeles, Calif. on Thursday.

Addison is the lone entry for the Texas Longhorns women’s tennis team and earned her bid to the main draw by defeating three opponents in the qualifying draw on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The two-time All-American will face Florida’s Brooke Austin, who’s the top seed in the tournament. Austin defeated Jasmine Lee of Mississippi State, 6-2, 7-6 to advance.

This is Addison’s third consecutive appearance in the main singles draw at the ITA All-American Championships. She’ll try to improve on last year’s performance in which she bowed out in the second round last season.

The ITA All-American Championships in Los Angeles is the first of three national championship events in college tennis.
