Two advance for Texas women’s tennis at ITA Regional

Longhorns Breaunna Addison and Lana Groenvynck each won their matches to move on to the round of 32 in the main singles draw at the ITA Texas Regional Championships in College Station on Thursday.

Addison defeated Eduarda Nardi dos Santos 6-4, 7-5 in the round of 64 following a first round bye. She’s set to face Seda Arantekin of TCU on Friday at 8 a.m.

Groenvynck had to win twice on Thursday to advance. She opened the day with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Meredith Hopson of UTSA before defeating Talisa Merchiers of Lamar 6-0, 6-2. She’ll face Sarah Dvorak of Texas Tech on Friday at 8 a.m.

Dani Wagland reached the round of 64 where she fell to Lucile Pothier of Abilene Christian 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6). Wagland defeated Sofiko Kadzhaya of TCU in the first round 6-2, 6-3.

Neda Koprcina lost in the first round to Vivienne Kulicke of UTEP, 6-1, 6-4.
