Breaunna Addison advances at National Indoor

Posted November 12th, 2015

Breaunna Addison defeated Brienne Minor of Michigan 6-4, 6-2 in the round of 32 at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in Flushing, N.Y. on Thursday. The win advances Addison to the second round where she’ll face Julia Elbaba on Friday at a time yet to be determined.

The event is college tennis’ second national championship of the year and is held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, the home of the U.S. Open.

Addison is unseeded at the competition and has a tough matchup coming up as Virginia’s Elbaba is the sixth seed and ranked third in the nation. Elbaba defeated Addison in 2013 in the same event.

Addison’s victory at the ITA Texas Regional Championships last month earned her the bid to the National Indoor competition.
