Posted September 8th, 2016

Former Texas Longhorn Breaunna Addison defeated Brooke Austin, a junior at Florida, in the opening round of the American Collegiate Invitational in Flushing, N.Y., on Thursday.

The three-time ITA singles All-American defeated Austin 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4 to reach the semifinals, where she’ll face Danielle Collins, who played for Virginia and is a two-time NCAA champion.

The invitational features the top 16 American collegiate players in men’s and women’s singles events. Five of the eight players in the women’s event are still in college, and the other three exhausted their eligibility in the spring.

Addison earned her victory on Court 4 during the U.S. Open, which hosts the 3-year-old event.

Addison will take on Collins at 11 a.m. Friday.
