After losing out earlier in the day on running back Devwah Whaley, Texas rebounded in a big way by landing a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Jean Delance on Saturday at the Under Armour All-America Game in Orlando, Fla..
Delance, of North Mesquite, chose the Longhorns over Michigan and gives coach Charlie Strong some needed help on the offensive line.
Delance is Texas’ highest-rated commit in the 2016 class, checking in as the nation’s No. 90 overall prospect and No. 10 tackle, according to 247Sports’ composite ratings. He is the No. 13 player in the American-Statesman’s Fabulous 55 of the state’s top seniors.
His commitment soothes the sting left by Whaley, a four-star back from Beaumont Central, spurning Texas for Arkansas.
