Scouting report: Jones spent his high school career contributing at Cy Woods as an offensive lineman and a defensive end. He’s an athletic big man with solid feet and a strong understanding of when to get to the second-level. Jones can be used in the screen game and as a pulling tackle on sweeps and counters. Texas figures it can add weight and strength to Jones during a redshirt freshman season and uncover a true recruiting gem.

The 3-star prospect is ranked as the No. 758-ranked prospect in the class. He’s the No. 59-ranked offensive tackle in the cycle and the No. 107-best player in Texas for the 2018 class, per 247Sports Composite. Texas is betting on his upside and potential to grow into an athletic left tackle.

Texas needs more bodies in the offensive line room and Jones gives Texas another player to stash away for the future. His combination of height and athleticism can’t be taught. The coaches think Jones could wind up one of the steals of the 2018 class. Jones is a hard-working, intelligent big man who could potentially play either offensive tackle position.
