Sigsgaard takes two titles in Denmark Championships

Longhorns senior-to-be wins men's singles and mixed doubles.

Christian Sigsgaard won the men’s singles and mixed doubles crowns Sunday in the Denmark Championships at Hillerod Tennis Club.

Sigsgaard, the Big 12 Co-Player of the Year this year as UT won the national championship, has a long history of titles in the Denmark tournament. He won men’s singles and men’s doubles in 2016, and men’s doubles and mixed doubles in 2017. He also won under-14 singles in 2011 and under-16 singles and mixed doubles in 2013.

Sigsgaard, who is from Naestved, Denmark, defeat August Holmgren 6-2, 6-1 and partnered with Maria Jespersen to beat Sille Tranberg and Nicolai Ferrigno 6-2, 6-4.


He played No. 1 singles and doubles for the Longhorns as a junior and earned ITA All-America honors in both. He finished the year ranked No. 6 in both in the ITA national rankings. He was a 38-14 in singles and 23-10 in doubles with partner Harrison Scott.
