Bohls: Notre Dame in my top 4; Big Ten falters

Posted November 5th, 2017

It was definitely Shakeup Saturday.

Seven of the teams ranked in the top 18 on my last week’s Associated Press college football ballot fell, but then four of them were playing teams I’d ranked higher.

I’ve bumped Notre Dame up from ninth to fourth and probably should have had the Irish higher than I did. They’re proving themselves on a weekly basis to be elite.

TCU, on the heels of a domination of Texas in a game that was borderline unwatchable, jumped from 12th to eighth.

Biggest jumps were Iowa to 17th after steamrolling Ohio State and Michigan State after clipping Penn State. I don’t see the Big Ten getting into the CFP unless and maybe even if Wisconsin runs the table.

The Big 12 got an assist from those Big Ten upsets and the cannibalization that’s going on in the Pac 12. Big 12 fans should root for Miami to knock off Notre Dame next weekend.

Here’s my Top 25:

  1. Georgia
  2. Alabama
  3. Oklahoma
  4. Notre Dame
  5. Clemson
  6. Miami
  7. Wisconsin
  8. TCU
  9. Washington
  10. Oklahoma State
  11. Auburn
  12. UCF
  13. Ohio State
  14. Penn State

  18. LSU
  19. North Carolina State
  20. Washington State
