Bohls: Canes top my AP Top 25 ballot
Posted November 12th, 2017
We ask for chaos. We get chaos.
As many as four of the college football teams ranked among my top nine and seven of my top 17 fell on Saturday, several of them in blowouts.
And I’ve got the Canes No. 1.
My top four are Miami, Alabama, Oklahoma and Clemson with Auburn leapfrogging a bunch of teams to rise to No. 6.
I put the Hurricanes ahead of the Crimson Tide because unbeaten Miami crushed my No. 4 Notre Dame (Alabama scored in the last 25 seconds to nip Mississippi State) and has two impressive wins over the Irish and Virginia Tech (Alabama’s opponents don’t give Nick Saban as quality wins, thanks to a diminished SEC and a bad Florida State team; Miami also beat the Seminoles).
I moved Georgia from No. 1 to No. 7 and considered pushing the Bulldogs down farther. Blowouts hurt.
My newcomers are Stanford at 21st and Michigan at 23rd.
Here’s my Associated Press Top 25 ballot:
- Miami
- Alabama
- Oklahoma
- Clemson
- Wisconsin
- Auburn
- Georgia
- Oklahoma State
- Ohio State

- Notre Dame
- Penn State
- LSU

- North Carolina State
- Washington State
