Bohls: LSU reigns at the top, at least for now
Posted November 10th, 2019
Story highlights
- Do I displace Ohio State from No. 1 after it totally demolished a bad Maryland team? Do I reward LSU for breaking the curse against Alabama?
- Eventually, I chose to put the Tigers at the top because they won on the road in the toughest place to play in America these days. I hated to punish the Buckeyes, but just think the monumental win by LSU in Tuscaloosa should be appropriately rewarded.
- I put Texas in at 25th for beating a top 16 CFP team Kansas State (and its narrow losses to LSU and OU).
Voting in the Associated Press Top 25 football poll just got a little trickier.
Do I displace Ohio State from No. 1 after it totally demolished a bad Maryland team? Do I reward LSU for breaking the curse against Alabama? How about Clemson as it continues to dismantle the horrid ACC? How far do you drop the Crimson Tide? Are there four other teams better than them?
And what to do about the one-loss teams? Where do they fit in?
Questions, questions.
Eventually, I chose to put quarterback Joe Burrow and the Tigers at the top because they won on the road in the toughest place to play in America these days. I hated to punish the Buckeyes, but just think the monumental win by LSU in Tuscaloosa should be appropriately rewarded. So I swapped Ohio State and LSU for the time being.
The bottom of the ballot went through a little shakeup as well. I put Texas in at 25th for beating a top 16 CFP team (and its narrow losses to LSU and OU). Also added newcomers Navy, Appalachian State and Air Force.
Here’s my top 25:
- LSU
- Ohio State
- Clemson
- Oregon
- Georgia
- Utah
