Bohls: Texas very deserving of new Top 25 ranking
Posted September 23rd, 2018
Texas is back.
In the Associated Press Top 25, at least.
And that’s a start.
The Longhorns returned to the AP Poll, showing up at a worthy No. 18 after thumping 17th-ranked TCU 31-16 by scoring the final three touchdowns of the game. Texas beat a ranked team for the second consecutive week, the first time it’s done that since 2008.
I put Texas at No. 20 on my AP ballot.
I bumped Oklahoma down a couple of notches to No. 7 after the Sooners’ overtime struggle against ball-controlling Army. Kentucky jumped to No. 15 with a 4-0 record and appears in the poll for the first time since 2007. Texas A&M fell to 21st on my ballot (and comes in at 31st in the poll), and TCU slipped to 22nd on my ballot.
Texas Tech earned a 24th ranking in my vote after throttling Oklahoma State on the road. The Red Raiders are No. 25 in the poll.
Here’s my ballot:
- Alabama
- Ohio State
- Georgia
- Clemson
- West Virginia
- Stanford
- Oklahoma
- LSU
- Auburn
- Washington
- UCF
- Notre Dame
- Penn State
- Miami
- Kentucky
- California
- BYU
- Wisconsin
- Michigan
- Texas
- Texas A&M
- TCU
- USF
- Texas Tech
- Oregon
