Posted February 10th, 2016

Texas sprinter Courtney Okolo was named the women’s Big 12 track & field athlete of the week by the conference on Wednesday, a day after being honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

She posted the fastest time this year in the 400 meters on Friday night at the Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. Her time of 51.16 set a meet and Bob Devaney Center facility record and was .04 off of her personal best which she set at the NCAA Championships last year.

Okolo will continue her attempt to defend her NCAA crown as she and the Longhorns will compete in the Tyson Invitational at Arkansas this weekend.
