The Texas high school football season won’t officially kick off until next week. That doesn’t mean Longhorns fans shouldn’t have a vested interest in this weekend’s slate of games across the country. Three of Texas’ 18 commitments in the 2018 class will play a regular season game over the next few days:

Cameron Rising, quarterback, Newbury Park (Calif.)
FYI: 6-2/209; four stars; committed on April 22
Texas’ top-rated quarterback pledge begins his senior season on Friday at home against Pacifica and Hookem.com will be there live to watch the four-star product. Rising, a one-time Oklahoma commit, played in only five games as a junior due to a shoulder injury that he suffered running the football. He threw for 1,349 yards and 14 touchdowns, adding 304 yards on the ground.
But Rising recorded video game numbers as a sophomore. In his first year as a starter he passed for 3,213 yards and 40 touchdowns to just one interception. He also rushed for 756 yards and added 11 touchdowns on the ground. Rising is labeled a pro-style quarterback by recruiting services despite his pension for running with the ball.
Rising ranks as the No. 157 best prospect in the nation and the No. 7 pro-style quarterback in the country, per 247Sports’ composite. The right-hander chose Texas over 24 other offers and is still receiving recruiting attention from programs, most notably Oregon.
Ayodele Adeoye, inside linebacker, IMG Academy (Fla.)
FYI: 6-0/231; four stars; committed on June 4
IMG Academy’s season starts Friday in Arizona against Chandler High School. Adeoye, who’s from Missouri, is expected to see his first official action at IMG since making the move in the offseason. Adeoye is a hard-hitting middle linebacker prospect with the athleticism to chase plays sideline to sideline. He does his best work when he’s allowed to play downhill against the run and he’ll be one of numerous UT commits to compete in the Under Armour All-America Game on Jan. 4 in Orlando.

Rondale Moore, wide receiver, Trinity (Ky.)
FYI: 5-8.5/174; four stars; committed on June 25
Texas holds a trio of commitments from four-star wide receivers and all three were participants at The Opening Final this summer in Oregon. Moore is blessed with size but he makes up for it with quickness and acceleration. He was laser-timed in under 4.4 seconds at the 40-yard dash event at The Opening.
Moore started his season last weekend with a 31-3 victory against Carmel High School, a defending state champion in Indiana. He didn’t post big numbers, finishing with seven catches for just 32 yards. Trinity faces another Indiana powerhouse on Friday when Moore’s team travels to Warren Central.
