A new era for Texas football

American-Statesman columnist Kirk Bohls makes his predictions for the Longhorns football season. Among other prognostications, Bohls calls for a 9-3 season and a trip to a bowl game for the Longhorns. Bohls also predicts the Texas quarterback situation is far from settled.

One player yet to commit to a school is 5-star cornerback Anthony Cook. He has set a date for his announcement, however. Longhorns fans would like to see him join Houston Lamar teammate, Al’vonte Woodard, as a player committed to UT.

American-Statesman columnists Kirk Bohls and Cedric Golden talk college football with ESPN.com’s Jake Trotter. They cover the Big 12 and the Texas opener against Maryland. They also discuss how the University of Houston is dealing with the tragedy of Hurricane Harvey.

Texas basketball teams’ Big 12 schedules set

The Texas men’s basketball team will play four times on ESPN’s Big Monday. The Longhorns open the Big 12 schedule hosting Kansas on Dec. 29. Texas travels to Allen Fieldhouse on Feb. 26 for a Big Monday showdown against the Jayhawks.

The Texas women’s Big 12 schedule was also set Thursday. They’ll open and close with contests against Oklahoma.

Texas soccer and volleyball teams visit California this weekend

The Texas volleyball team and the soccer team will both be in California this weekend. The volleyball squad will have three matches over Friday and Saturday. The undefeated soccer team will play twice in three days.
