In what ultimately became a 27-24 Texas loss in double overtime, the junior finished with a career-high 7 tackles, while also matching his career high with 2 interceptions. The first of the evening became a pick-six in which Elliott returned a Sam Darnold interception 38 yards to even the score 7-7 just before halftime. It marked the third time in three games this season that Texas has returned an interception for a touchdown.
Elliott’s second interception of the night came with USC facing a third-and-10 in the fourth quarter, returning another errant Darnold pass to the USC 25-yard-line. He also defended a pair of passes and nearly came away with a third interception.
Such a showing also resulted in Elliott being named the Big 12 DieHards Defensive Player of the Week.
