On Saturday against Oklahoma State, the eyes of Texas will be upon …
Mason Rudolph, quarterback
Mason Rudolph has passed for 2,368 yards, which is second most in the country behind New Mexico State’s Tyler Rogers. And only two quarterbacks — one of which is West Virginia’s Will Grier — have thrown more touchdowns than Rudolph’s 19. This is the senior’s third career start against Texas; he burned the Longhorns for 392 yards and 3 touchdowns last year. More importantly, Rudolph has led the Cowboys to 30-27 and 49-31 victories over Texas.
James Washington, wide receiver
Only one team — South Alabama — has held James Washington to less than 100 yards this season. And in that game he had 98 yards on only 2 catches. Washington is coming off a 6-catch, 235-yard game against Baylor and he’s averaging 25.9 yards per catch. Only Missouri’s Emanuel Hall (28.8) has a better average. Washington, a native of the small Texas town of Stamford, ranks second in career receiving yards at Oklahoma State (3,805).
Tre Flowers, safety
Tre Flowers, who had more career tackles than any other Cowboy entering this season, is the team’s leading tackler with 31 stops. He’s been a real threat against the pass, with 2 interceptions and 5 pass breakups. Three of those breakups came in the close 41-34 win at Texas Tech. Flowers, a senior from Converse, has started 31 of Oklahoma State’s last 32 games.
