Texas suffered another frustrating loss Saturday, falling 13-10 to No. 10-ranked Oklahoma State in overtime after quarterback Sam Ehlinger threw a game-ending interception.

Afterward, Tom Herman addressed the media in a postgame press conference. Here is some of what he had to say:

On Sam Ehlinger interception on final play:

“We were supposed to throw it in the flat on five steps. Get it out as a little sprint pass. … For whatever reason (Ehlinger) didn’t throw it early enough to the flat so he was scrambling around.”

On continued offensive struggles:

“We’ve got to fix what’s wrong on the offense. We’ve had flashes and we’re definitely not consistent enough. I told our guys all week that we were close, and close is a lot better than the alternative.”

He continued: “It’s very frustrating. I take a lot of responsibility for that. Tim is doing fine. I hired Tim because he is very, very capable of doing this job. We’ve got a big task ahead of us to right the ship on that side of the ball.”

On why LG Patrick Vahe spent portions of game on sideline:

“Patrick Vahe was sick. Woke up this morning vomiting with a stomach bug.”

On emotions after losing another close game:

“They’re as hurt as I am. That’s a good thing. It means they’re invested. It means they’re not used to losing. They’re un-accepting (sic) of losing, and that’s really, really good.”

On how defense held Oklahoma State to 13 points, 282 passing yards:

“We knew we were going to give up some extra yards on the ground, but as long as we got them on the ground we were going to live to fight another down.”

On making things simpler for Sam Ehlinger:

“Sam’s a really football smart guy, but when you’re out there and you’re thinking that’s not a good thing. We condensed quite a bit of the offense this week and obviously thought we had a good plan. We didn’t go out there and do it as well as we can.”
