Scouting report: Overshown is an intriguing prospect with position versatility. He’s played at all three levels of defense as a prep athlete, spending time on the defensive line, at linebacker and in the secondary. The four-star prospect is long and lean, leading many to believe his best position in college will be outside linebacker because it is likely he’ll add 20 to 30 pounds within a few years of entering a college strength and conditioning program.

Overshown arrived on the recruiting scene as a sophomore despite playing for Arp, a smaller school not known for producing P5 talent. As a sophomore, Overshown recorded 118 tackles, including 14 for loss. He forced a fumble, registered seven sacks, recovered three fumbles and had an interception playing closer to the line of scrimmage. He moved towards the secondary as a junior and finished the season with 153 tackles and three interceptions.

Not every prospect needs a defined position. Overshown is a talented defender with the ability to run, change direction and make plays. Those types of athletes find positions once on campus. Overshown is listed as a safety and he could become an all-conference player at the position. Or, he could move to linebacker. Either way, he’s a talented addition to the 2018 recruiting class.
