About the series: Kansas leads the all-time series 29-8, and the Jayhawks have won the last seven games. Some of the recent losses have been close while others have been blowouts. As a program, the Longhorns are 17-4 in Big 12 home openers. Kansas has won 26 consecutive league openers regardless of location.

TEXAS (9-3)

No., Pos., Name, Class, Ht., PPG, RPG

2, G, Matt Coleman, Fr., 6-2, 7.4, 4.1*

10, G, Jacob Young, Soph., 6-2, 5.8, 1.9

12, G, Kerwin Roach Jr., Jr., 6-4, 10.9, 3.7

21, F, Dylan Osetkowski, Jr., 6-9, 14.6, 7.8

4, C, Mo Bamba, Fr., 6-11, 10.9, 9.8

About the Longhorns: Shooting guard Andrew Jones is still not fully recovered from a fractured right wrist injury, but it sounds like he could play against Kansas. “You go by what the trainer says,” coach Shaka Smart said. “We’ve got to get him back into the form of getting up and down and playing extremely hard.” Jones worked with his off hand the last few weeks, but Smart said the guard is “still getting his wind back.” Jones was averaging 15.3 points per game before falling twice against VCU on Dec. 5 and suffering a hairline fracture. … Texas has the fourth-best defense against 3-point shooting in the nation. Opponents are hitting only 27.1 percent from beyond the arc.

No. 11 KANSAS (10-2)

No., Pos., Name, Class, Ht., PPG, RPG

4, G, Devonte’ Graham, Sr., 6-2, 16.8, 7.6*

14, G, Malik Newman, Soph., 6-3, 10.4, 4.8

2, G, Lagerald Vick, Jr., 6-5, 17.1, 6.6

35, Udoka Azubuike, Soph., 7-0, 15.5, 8.0

About the Jayhawks: For Texas defender Kerwin Roach Jr., there’s no better challenge that Lagerald Vick, who is averaging 18.3 points in KU’s last five games. He’s also had five 20-point performances so far this season. … Devonte’ Graham is well versed in playing Texas. He has made 12 of 26 career 3-pointers against the Horns and shot 50 percent overall in those six victories. … Udoka Azubuike’s long frame helps him get plenty of shots off. He’s currently ranked second nationally in field-goal percentage (.779). Most of those have come from close range, making it a fascinating test against Mo Bamba and his 7-foot-9 wingspan. … Coach Bill Self is 19-8 all-time against Texas.
