About the series: Texas leads the all-time series 162-88. The Bears have had the upper hand in recent years, though. Coach Scott Drew’s club has won six of the last eight games in this series, including the last four straight. This is the longest rivalry in both schools’ history.

About the Longhorns: Texas will be without G Andrew Jones, who may not even make the trip to Waco. Jones is suffering from an undisclosed illness that has left coach Shaka Smart and team doctors baffled as to why he has low energy. … Smart has a simple reason why Matt Coleman went through a brief turnover funk. “I think it was just overthinking,” the coach said. Coleman has tallied 29 points, 13 rebounds and 14 assists in the last two games. … Dylan Osetkowski set new career highs with 25 points and seven made 3-pointers against Iowa State. He’s now averaging 17.6 points in the last five games.

About the Bears: Baylor is facing an odd moment. The team is looking to avoid it’s first three-game losing streak in nearly four years. Still, Drew’s club is first among teams receiving votes in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. The Bears would be 26th, if the poll went that far. … Jo Lual-Acuil missed the Big 12 opener with an injury, but he’s since put up 28 points and 11 rebounds against TCU. He ranks second in the Big 12 in rebounding and eighth in scoring. … Tristan Clark is shooting 70 percent in his last seven games and now has a season total of 59.8 percent. … Baylor is 52-11 against in-state opponents since the start of the 2011-12 season.
