Junior Doug Ghim was named the Big 12 player of the year while coach John Fields was selected as coach of the year for the fifth straight year as the conference announced its postseason awards Monday.

Ghim becomes the third straight player to earn player of the year honors and seventh total, joining Beau Hossler, Brandon Stone, Jordan Speith, Dylan Frittelli, Jason Hartwick and David Gossett.

This is Fields 12th conference coach of the year honor of his career and eighth Big 12 honor. He has led Texas to three wins this season, including the program’s fifth straight Big 12 title.

The 12th-ranked men’s golf team will begin the postseason Monday at UT Golf Club.
