Jones now is the co-host of the nationally syndicated radio show “Gio and Jones.” And he serves as an in-studio college football analyst for CBS Sports.
When the school announced that Jones would speak to graduates, Jones said: “As someone that aspired to be an actor as well as a sports broadcaster, attaining a communication degree was monumental in my efforts to achieve those goals,” said Jones. “In my estimation, a degree from one of the most prestigious communication schools in the world provides a myriad of opportunities in the arena of sports and beyond.”
Jones led UT in tacckles in 1990 and then played five years in the NFL. He moved to Los Angeles and tried to be an actor, but eventually launched his successful sports broadcasting career in Austin.
