The Texas Longhorns were shut out by Iowa State 24-0 at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa. It’s the first time Texas has been shut out by an unranked opponent since 1961.
The Longhorns had trouble with consistency, faced several injuries during the game and struggled to get the ball into Cyclone territory.
A last minute touchdown attempt from quarterback Tyrone Swoopes to Marcus Johnson came up short when Johnson dropped the pass in the end zone.
Texas is now 3-5 overall and needs to win three more games to become bowl-eligible.
To make a bowl Texas must win 3 of the following 4 games.

Texas has laid a bunch of eggs under Charlie Strong but they've all been against good competition. Until now. Final: Iowa State 24, Texas 0.
