RHP Nolan Kingham to start against Stanford; Sawyer out
Posted February 24th, 2016
Scratching plans it announced earlier on Wednesday, Texas is now saying Nolan Kingham will start Thursday’s game at Stanford.
Josh Sawyer, who was originally expected to start, is dealing with a sore arm, a team spokesman said. He threw two scoreless innings in a 4-3 12-inning loss to UNLV on Friday.
Kingham, a freshman from Las Vegas, worked the final two innings of Saturday’s 11-2 win. He allowed one hit and struck out one.
The rest of the rotation will remain the same as it was last weekend. Kyle Johnston will throw Friday followed by Ty Culbreth and Connor Mayes.
Stanford (3-1) will counter, in order, with LHP Kris Bubic (0-0, 0.00), RHP Tristan Beck (1-0, 0.00), LHP Chris Castellanos (1-0, 1.50), and RHP Brett Hanewich (1-0, 0.00).
Stanford took two of three against Cal State Fullerton to open the season and followed with a win on Monday at UC Davis.
