Texas women’s golf takes seventh in Las Vegas

The Texas women’s golf team shot a 277, 11-under par, to finish seventh at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev. on Tuesday. Overall the Longhorns shot, 25-under par, 839.
Sophia Schubert took fourth place for the Longhorns, shooting 13-under par for the tournament. Her 66 on Tuesday was the best round for any Longhorn this season as she made six birdies.
Haley Mills shot a 69 to finish tied for 45th place at 2-under par with teammate Tezira Abe. Julia Beck and Maddie Luitwieler shot 71 on the day to tie for 53rd place, even for the tournament.
UNLV and Vanderbilt finished 33-under par for a tie for first place. Anna Newell of Tennessee took medalist honors after shooting 18-under par.
The Longhorns will have a break before their spring season begins on February 7 at the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Fla.
