Texas women’s golf tied for first at UNF Collegiate

Texas shot 9 over par through two rounds to tie Houston for first place at the UNF Collegaite on Monday in Jacksonville, Florida.

UT’s Sophia Schubert shot an even-par 72 and followed with a 2-under 70 to finish the day tied for first with James Madison’s Laura Gomez at 2 under par. Schubert had a birdie and a bogey in the first round and birdied four holes with one bogey in the second round.

Texas freshman Maddie Luitwieler is tied for fifth place after carding a 71 and a 75. Luitwieler made four birdies, a bogey and a double bogey on the back nine in the first round to finish at 1 under. She had four bogeys and a birdie in the second round.

Texas senior Natalie Karcher is tied for 13th place at 5 over par after shooting a 1-over 73 and a 76. Longhorn Julia Beck shot a 77 and 76 to tie for 30th at 9 over and Haley Mills is in 41st place at 10 over par.

The Longhorns will play the final round on Tuesday alongside Houston and third-place College of Charleston.
