WATCH: Nike releases a trailer for Kevin Durant film

Posted June 27th, 2017

Nike released a trailer for an upcoming film that centers around Longhorn legend and reigning NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant on Tuesday. The trailer came via Twitter and the film is titled “Still KD”:

So we’re not sure what this movie is exactly going to focus on, but we’re guessing it’s about Durant’s backlash he received following his move from Oklahoma City to Golden State.

After winning the finals earlier this month, Nike released an advertisement moments after game five congratulating Durant. That spot was a little puzzling as it depicted the superstar as a player who was doubted by all the critics and somewhat an underdog throughout his climb to the top of the NBA.

Durant, in reality, was the No. 2 recruit in the nation when he signed with Texas in 2006. He was a McDonald’s All-American who went on to win the Wooden Award after a historic freshman season. He was then picked No. 2 overall in the NBA draft. A few years later he was one of the youngest MVPs if all time when he won the award in 2014.

Maybe if the commercial was about Durant’s teammate Stephen Curry, who was the No. 158 recruit in the class as Durant — the No. 8 player in his own state of North Carolina in 2006 — would that advertisement make sense. However, Curry wears Under Armour shoes, not Nike. Here’s that commercial:

Maybe “Still KD” will keep building off this narrative, but maybe we’ll get lucky and this will be insightful documentary about Durant’s transition from the Thunder to the Warriors. We’ll have to wait until July 11.
