Remember Joey Wright? He was integral part of the “BMW” Longhorns team of 1990 that fell just short of the Final Four.
Wright, the team’s point guard, now is flourishing Down Under as a head coach in Australia’s pro league.
And he’ll be spending time in the United States through July with the staff of the Utah Jazz for the NBA Summer League.
Wright will be a bench coach for the Rocky Mountain Revue and sit behind the bench for the Las Vegas Summer League, according to the Adelaide Advertiser.
“It’s a great opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches in the world,” Wright said. “Quin Snyder is known as one of the best up-and-coming coaches in the NBA.
“The opportunity to see how he handles the management of players, substitution patterns, momentum and fatigue inhibitors, offensive and defensive schemes is invaluable.”
Wright coaches the Adelaide 36ers. He’s a three-time coach of the year in the NBL in Australia.
