Melton played in 16 games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season but was not re-signed by the club in the off-season.
Melton will join a stout defensive line that includes 2016 Super Bowl MVP and former Aggie Von Miller and nine-time pro-bowler Demarcus Ware.
In six seasons in the NFL, Melton has registered 22.5 sacks and made the Pro Bowl in 2012.
