Freshman linebacker Malik Jefferson has been named Walter Camp National FBS defensive player of the week after recording two sacks in Texas’ 24-17 upset win over Oklahoma.
Jefferson is the seventh Texas player to win player of the week since 2004, and the first ever defensive honoree.
Jefferson had one of his finer games, posting six tackles (five solo) and leading a defensive charge that held 10th-ranked OU to just 278 yards. On the year, Jefferson is second on the team with 37 tackles and first with 5.5 tackles for loss.
