Where it went right: The bullpen. Travis Duke, Blake Wellmann, Chase Shugart, Josh Sawyer and Connor Mayes kept TCU off the board over the final five frames. Combined, they allowed four baserunners.

The starter: Morgan Cooper retired the first nine batters he faced, but his second time through the lineup didn’t go so well. Cooper needed 41 pitches to get through the fourth, and served up a three-run bomb to Evan Skoug. Cooper, who was making his first weekend start, checked out after 4 2/3 innings and his team trailing 3-2.

Top hitter: Patrick Mathis, 2-4, HR, 3 RBI.
