Taylor and Gibson advance to three-meter final at U.S. Olympic Trials

Maren Taylor and Alison Gibson each placed in the top-12 of the women’s three-meter semifinals, qualifying for Sunday’s finals, at the U.S. Olympic Trials on Tuesday.

Taylor, a former Longhorn who earned All-America honors 11 times, scored 541.60 points in the preliminary and semifinal rounds to finish in 11th place.

Gibson, an incoming UT freshman, scored 596.85 points to qualify eighth after two rounds of competition.

Sunday’s finals will air on NBC at 3:50 p.m.

On Wednesday the men’s three-meter synchronized finals will air on NBC Sports Network beginning at 8 p.m. The Women’s synchronized platform final will air following the men.

Former Longhorn Troy Dumais will compete in the men’s final, as will Texas senior Mark Anderson. Another former Longhorn, Cory Bowersox, will also compete in the final. Murphy Bromberg will compete in the women’s synchro platform final.
