Texas’ Mark Anderson edged teammate Cory Bowersox to win the 3-meter title on Friday at the UT Diving Invite at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Anderson scored 85.75 points on his last dive, a reverse 1 ½ somersault with 3 ½ twists, to beat Bowersox 458.15-448.75. Boxersox had a meet-best 88.4 points on his final dive, an inward 3 ½ somersault.
“I don’t like to look at the leaderboard, but I knew it would be close toward the end,” Anderson said.
UT’s Sean O’Brien was fourth with 418.90 points. O’Brien earned a perfect score from one of the five judges on his third dive, a back 2 ½ somersault that scored 82.5 points.
