Gonzaga women’s basketball head coach Lisa Fortier announced the hiring of Nneka Enemkpali as the program’s video coordinator Thursday.

Enemkpali joins the Zags’ staff after an exceptional playing career at the University of Texas, followed by a stint in the WNBA.

“We are really happy to have Nneka joining our staff,” Fortier said.  “She is a bright and aspiring young coach, with maturity beyond her years.  Her playing experience, both in the WNBA and collegiately, will be an asset to our staff and our players.  She competed at a very high level and will help us continue to compete on a national level.”

Enemkpali was drafted by the Seattle Storm in the third round (26th overall) of the 2015 WNBA Draft but sat out the season while recovering from a knee injury suffered during her senior season at Texas. Seattle signed Enemkpali to their 2016 training camp roster, but waived her prior to the start of the regular season. Not long after, the Minnesota Lynx signed her to a seven-day contract.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity coach Fortier has presented me and I look forward to the start of the season,” Enemkpali said. “Gonzaga women’s basketball has a history of excellence and coach Fortier has been an integral part in that success. She has a great staff and talented group of student-athletes, and I look forward to learning under her guidance and contributing the best that I can to our program.”
