Lake Dallas cornerback Kobe Boyce committed to Texas on Sunday, becoming the fifth player to join the Longhorns’ 2017 class.

Boyce is a three-star prospect and the nation’s No. 73 cornerback, according to 247Sports’ composite ratings. Though his ranking may be underwhelming, Boyce’s skills attracted offers from several major programs including Baylor, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Ole Miss.

Boyce (6-0, 163) finished the 2015 season at Lake Dallas with 40 tackles, eight pass break ups and two interceptions.

With Boyce in the fold, UT’s class now ranks No. 18 nationally and No. 2 in the Big 12 to Oklahoma. Boyce is the Longhorns’ first 2017 pick-up since Bullard tight end Major Tennison and Liberty-Eylau defensive end Lagaryonn Carson chose UT on consecutive days last October.
