A late offer by Texas head coach Tom Herman has built momentum toward signing a local 4-star lineman.
Before the hiring of Herman, Westlake offensive tackle Stephan Zabie didn’t have an offer from the Longhorns. Seeking to add a lineman to his 2017 signing class, the Texas coaching staff decided to make a late push to sign Zabie, extending an invitation to the class on Jan. 16. His high school coach, Todd Dodge, has described Zabie as a “special player” who “plays the game with passion and aggression.”
The No. 38 ranked senior on the final update to the Statesman’s Fabulous 55 took his official visit to the 40 Acres this past weekend.
At the end of the weekend, Zabie narrowed his choice of school to three – Texas, UCLA and Oklahoma.

He will decide among those three schools on national signing in a ceremony broadcast live on ESPNU at 7 a.m. from Westlake High School.
